I think that a lot of conversation about "reducing the number of futurities" is
a good thing. Discussion and points of view are a good thing. Now hopefully
this is what is going on and hopefully minds are not already made up.
My concern with reducing the number will cause us to drive farther, have less
choices in what judge (s) and really I am not sure the really new people in the
breed will join in. Face it folks this sport has gotten way to expensive. But
we also know that change can be a good thing. Sometimes we need to change just
to see if improvements can be made and if so that is good. If the futurity
system was changed and it proved not so good, can if go back to the "old" way?
I personally think that this is a great time to re-evaluate the whole system.
I also think we need to make sure that whatever changes are discussed and
incorporated are made public to the whole membership. I for one am not aware
of all the rules and would like to know them to make sure our kennel is in line
with all the procedures-rules. We have a great "information highway" these
days and need to use it appropriately. I really am hopeful that our club is
able to work together for the betterment of our beautiful breed. I look
forward to participating in and hearing about new changes and great
improvements!
