Hi: I got some private replies asking me what I meant by angulation in
the hocks. If you look at the picture I sent today of my Amber, you
will see that her hocks while she is standing turn in towards her body.
They don't stand straight up and down. Her daughter has the same
angulation in the hock.....turning slightly towards her body, rather
than straight up and down. I noticed this about her when she was first
walking around at 4 weeks. Her daughter is NOT steep in croup. Infact,
she has a beautiful croup. This puppy when she is gaiting in the house,
gets her hindquarter well under her and follows through in the rear.
It's a very strong driving rear. The best way to explain what I'm
talking about would be to look at the kind of angulation that you would
have seen the Fran-Jo dogs have back in the 70's and 80's. At that
time, people were saying they were so angulated that they were walking
on their hocks. My girls are not that extreme that their walking on
their hocks, but they have that same angle to the hock that turns in
towards the body. I hope this makes it a little more clear what I'm
