OK, while I am waiting for a project to finish, I am going to give this a
"stab"
Annually the world of GSD have, put on by the SV-- the dog club in
Germany---the SiegerShow --this is a world conformation event held in Germany,
HOWEVER in order to enter the dog must have training. They are tested again
during this event and if they fail to pass the performance "stuff" they
cannot compete in the Conformation show. So -- the Sieger and Siegerin
(equivalent to our GV GVX except this is a world event and ours is a national
event and does not have the perforamnce) are the top dogs in this multi day,
multi trial event.
The corresponding WDA event is the North American Sieger Show. NASS. This
is a conformation event but it is run like the Sieger Show in that --if you
dont pass the performance events--tracking, obedience and protection-- you
get nada --that is the end of the road--try again next year. The North
American Sieger and the North American Siegerin are "hot stuff" like GV -GVX
The WUSV --the World Union for German Shepherd -- all the clubs that belong
to the WUSV-- one of them is hosting the World Trial in a given year. This
year it is in Spain. The teams (4 dogs and their handlers and an alternate
and the team captain) representing the countries that have entered this
event come to the World Trial and the dogs compete. They get individual
scores and team scores. It is a Team Deal in the end but the individuals do
also get some recognition. It is a really big deal to do well and place in
the top --say 6--
Before that event --all of the participating clubs have their own events.
The WDA --each year puts on the "Qualifying Trial" all of the top dogs who
want to be on the United States of America Team -- have to compete in the
Trial. This is a performance event--Tracking, Obedience and Protection. The
top dogs make the team. AND There is more to this but --- "cutting to the
chase"
Back in --I think 2004 -- I think that because I was, as President, I
was in attendance at the WUSV meeting following the Sieger Show where we
extended the invitation to the WUSV members to come to America for the WUSV
World Trial in 2013 because it was the GSDCA Centennial Year. They accepted
our invitation. We did that back then because we thought that we needed to
get a bid in before someone else offered to do it that particular year--the
GSDCA Centennial Year. So that is what this is -- The WUSV World Trial --
held during our Centennial Year-- in conjunction with our Centennial Year
National and a what is going to be a spectacular Centennial Celebration (this
thanks to Nancy Harper Mulvaney's coordination of events) So, from all
over the world, WUSV members will be sending teams to compete in a World
Performance Event hosted by the GSDCA. There is so much to be done --we need
your support - that would mean a lot!! - we are still making lists of
things that need to be thought of --much less knowing what action had been
done
and what to communicate to whom
the other WUSV club in America did hold a world trial-- the show does
rotate--I think it will also be in South America sometime soon -- cant keep
track of it all
I probably left some stuff out and I will no doubt hear about it but for
