These runs are easily 8 years old and the only real wear is where a
particular dog I own has decided to dismantle it so.....the point
is.. even unprotected, wood is pretty durable , as long as you don't get one
that is soft...
I stick with wood - we ripped up all our carpets and put laminate down..the
dogs, kids, cats, people run all over them and a damp mop brings them right
back to new..In the kitchen we have ceramic tiles, but the rougher ones that
aren't slippery.. In hindsight I wouldn't do that again .. the tiles are
great, but the grout, even though sealed, doesn't repel the muddy foot
prints as well as the wood..I love my wood floors..
