Hi All;
This is awonderful opportunity to get the Parent Club to seek help for the GSD
Rescues. My AB club, Newton KC
is a founding member of the Humane Fund. This fund is a wonderful fund and all
Clubs should think about making
contributions in some way. This is the Fund that will also be used during
disasters.

AKC clubs emphasize responsible breeding and ownership, and many consider
rescue an important part of the equation. We know that many clubs and
their
dedicated members invest a great deal of time, emotion and money to secure
the future of all purebred dogs - even those in need of caring and loving
homes. The AKC Humane Fund is proud to launch the Parent Club Breed Rescue
Grant Program to support the rescue activities of parent clubs and their
not-for-profit designees.
The AKC Humane Fund will regularly award grants to a Parent Club (or its
designee) who has demonstrated a history of rescue efforts on behalf its
breed. Grant recipients will be announced at AKC Delegates meetings.
If your club does not happen to participate in rescue activities, please
consider making a tax-deductible donation to the AKC Humane Fund to support
those that do. A gift of $1000 or more will make your club a Founding
Member of the AKC Humane Fund. As a Founding Member, your gift will be
commemorated with a custom-made plaque on the AKC Humane Fund's Wall of
Honor at the American Kennel Club's headquarters in New York City.
Every day, we work hard to give something back to dogs on a broad and
sustainable scale. But nobody can do it alone. It takes a community of
dog
lovers working together to make a difference. The AKC Humane Fund's
mission
is to unite a broad spectrum of animal lovers in promoting the joy and
value
of responsible pet ownership through education, outreach and grant-making.
Through its programs, the AKC Humane Fund plans to:
* Support Parent Club Rescue activities;
* Administer a Hall of Fame for the sport of dogs to recognize
individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of exceptional performance and
helped shape the sport or a breed in specific ways;
* Assist human-services organizations that permit domestic abuse
victims to enter and stay in shelters with their pets;
* Provide resources to programs that educate adults and children about
responsible dog ownership;
* Contribute to organizations that support its mission, including AKC
Canine Health Foundation, AKC Museum of the Dog and AKC Companion Animal
Recovery.
The AKC Humane Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization exempt
from federal income taxation pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code. Contributions to the AKC Humane Fund are tax deductible as
allowed by law.
To make a Founding Member donation on behalf of your club, or in honor or
memory of a dog or person, fill out and return the attached pledge form.
