This article was in the BSL56 list. How's this for Hypocrisy, when
2 PETA employees are on trial for euthanising animals and dumping
their bodies in a Dumpster. These people must think we're idiots!!!

PETA gets involved in dog shooting case

The shooting of a dog in McDonough County last month has gotten the
attention of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Greg Williams, 41, Colchester, was scheduled to appear in court
Monday on felony charges of burglary and aggravated cruelty to
animals. A rural Colchester couple alleged that Williams took their
dog, a 10-year-old rottweiler, from their garage to an area near
Tennessee and shot the animal. He claimed the dog had bit him in the
face during a party at the couple?s home.
PETA sent a letter to McDonough County State?s Attorney James Hoyle
on Friday, urging his office to ?take every measure necessary to
ensure that he is barred from all contact with animals? and to
attempt to require the man to undergo psychological counseling.
PETA claimed in a press release that ?perpetrators of violent acts
against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat
not only to other animals but to the community as a whole.?
Williams was arrested after turning himself in about a week after the
incident. He was released on $10,000 bond shortly thereafter.
PETA is an animal rights organization with 850,000 members.
