I posted yesterday that I had attended Claudia Orlandi's seminar, The ABC's of Dog Breeding.....So to quote from her book that I've just started to read.....*note: pictures of a correct neck, an ewe or concave neck, and a swan or goose neck were positioned above the paragraph below: "Each dog's neck has a topline and an underline as illustrated in the drawing of a properly set on neck. Necks well set on will show a smooth flow into properly angled shoulders. In the faulty ewe neck and swan necks the circumference of the throatlatch is likely to be closer to the circumference of the base of the neck. In addition to the amount of forechest, which we will presently discuss, a dog's neck is one of the most important anatomical indicators of correct forequarter structure and movement. The correct length of neck is of the utmost importance in any breed and too long or too short a neck or improper head carriage can all negatively affect not only the lift and reach of the forelegs but also the desired outline or silhouette of the dog."
