While everyone was in Canada having a great time, the German Shepherd Dog
Club of Long Beach and Orange Coast German Shepherd Dog Club held two shows
on Saturday.
The philosopher litter, Kierkegaard, Plato and Sarte turned one year old at
the time of entry, so were entered all three of them in the shows.
In the morning under judge Ken Tank, Summer won Novice Junior Handling and
Best Junior Handler, then went on to win the 12-18 class with Asgard's
Kierkegaard; and first Novice Dog with Asgard's Plato.
In the afternoon show with Bob Grady judging, Summer again won the 12-18
class with Asgard's Kierkegaard, and Raul Carillo showed Asgard's Sarte to a
first place in the Novice class.
Then Summer went on to win Winner's Dog and Best of Winners With Asgard's
Kierkegaard for a three point major.
It was a fun day and even the rest of the people seemed to smile. The hot
dogs went over great, and Tedi and I worked about two hours on Friday night
to get the chili to taste the way I wanted it. I kept adding stuff, and
eventually it came out the way I expected.
The Khatibs brought a grill and a super Junior handler, (Summer), and the
whole family worked to serve the food. Jacqueline made a great potato
salad, and it seemed that everyone had a good time.
Next time I need to buy more hot dogs, 48 were not enough, but we ended up
cutting the last 10 or so in half, so it worked out.
Tomorrow there are two matches, so it is a dog show weekend.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
It wasn't Canada, but it sure was a lot of fun.
