Actually if you google you will find a number of breeds that have found
markers (Belgians for one as late as 3/13). I think for us, the "tell" is
determining if a seizure is the result of something (dog fight, hit on the
head, immediately following an EVENT, i.e. vaccine or administration of a
topical flea & tick preventative), which would be "sympomatic" OR if a dog
sufferers "idiopathic epilepsy' where there is a strong genetic background.
Some breeds as they age CAN suffer from low blood sugar.
Wish I didn't know this...bought a puppy years and years ago...other
issues, hardly show quality, he went to live w/ a lady the original owners
"owed" a puppy to. He developed epilepsy shortly after turning two. I called
one of the co-breeders of sire yes, she said, they had experienced it in
their lines. Unfortunately by the time a few of the boys developed it they
had been bred.
Evan had a hand in this saga, he's too much of a gentleman to mention
it...although he had nothing to do with any of my problems, I reached out and
he
helped me obtain a replacement that was contractually due.
Sadly the replacement had to be PTS w/ hemolytic anemia at 18 months.
