The idea of having two very long weekends at two of the Futurities has been
brought up with some of the Futurity Committee. The idea would be to have
a schedule something like this:
Thursday PM - Have an excellent program, presented by experts on Health
Issues i.e.
* DM, Bloat/Torsion,(wouldn't it be interesting to have Dr. Plesher
(sp) )? Pancreatic
Insuffiency - have top people in their fields - our PC can afford
this
Friday AM have a Specialty Show or Futurity
Friday PM have another program on conformation
* Structure, inbreeding, line breeding, gait, etc.
Saturday AM Futurity or Specialty Show
Saturday PM - another program
* An example might be Nutrition
Sunday AM - last session of program or maybe a Match
Not everyone would be able to attend but does that mean we should not offer
it to those that can? . There could be two of these scheduled - one in the
middle of the country, one on the west coast or northeast and then the
following year switch locations. Attendance at one of these could be a
"prize" awarded to one of our juniors and/or raffle at the National - winner
would have motel paid for during days of attendance, or maybe one round trip
airfare. To educate, in my opinion, we do have to spend money and make top
educational programs available to the fancy.
The above to be presented to the Board for consideration - so let's have
opinions please.

This is where the regional clubs have to come in. They need to be reaching
out to newcomers and offering educational programs. However, it is also up

discouraging when they stop coming to program meetings. I know the answer

communication, communication, communication. But we need more workers,

Regional events, with local clubs coming together to draw in National level
panels and speakers would seem an ideal answer. Then expenses could be
shared by a number of clubs.
We need to start thinking outside of the box
