Barbara,
Such statements as sent to you are so rife with ignorance and disproportionate
egotistical disillusionment that is takes one's breath away! After the
initial shock one just has to sit back & laugh right out loud - so ridiculous
are the assertions. Your devotion, knowledge, honesty, integrity, and
reputation precede you - all of which have benefited our breed. You were
around & even handled some of the past "great ones" ; the ones that
contributed to the establishment of the breed in this country - there is
nothing, absolutely nothing, that equals exposure to the beginning of a breed
in this country & the great ones that made their mark & then to be around to
follow the progression (and sometimes bouts of recession) right up to May 27,
2008.-(ask Fred and Helen if they don't agree) a grand base on which to build
one's knowledge & experience, especially with a gifted mind like yours. (Hurry
up and finish the book the publishers are pushing you about! I want my copy
before I am too old to read it). You were judging Futurities when two judges
were not really enough! Too bad we can't clone you. Remember Marie Leary
arriving at your door in her chauffer driven limo, no amount of money could
purchase Santana's Man O'War? What a gracious lady she was.
There have been many great contributors to the breed that never bred a GV or
GVX one such person was Ernie Loeb who was one of the finest judges our breed
ever knew. Harry Schneider had a great "eye" for judging, how about Ralph
Roberts, who judged our National so many times & there is a long list of these
knowledgeable "dog people" true pillars of our breed, who also acted the part.
That is not to take away from the great breeders such as Joan Ford who "pulled
them out of the hat left and right" and our current breeders who continue to
breed the really good ones. We should be recognizing the talents and gifts of
all those that have and continue to contribute to our breed.
Along with our judge's seminars looks like we need to offer classes on:
"history of the breed", "breeder etiquette", "contributors to the breed" ,
"etiquette", "responsible breeding", "etiquette" , "grooming" , "etiquette",
"evaluating puppies", "etiquette", "how to choose a stud dog", "etiquette" ,
"how to be a good looser & a gracious winner", and finally "etiquette & respect
in the dog world"

Dear Barb,
I don't know you personally, but I do know who you are and admire you and
your contribution to our beloved breed. That said, I wish to give you some
advice I learned over the years and that is when someone speaks to you as
this
person did, it's most likely they are envious of you, your status and your
accomplishments. I also believe that people like that, try to elevate
themselves
in their own minds, by putting others down.
There is a phrase I live by and it is very relevant here:
He who angers you controls youâ?¦.
Whoever said those things to you is not worth the hurt. I would consider
the source and give it the attention it deserves, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
