Almost every smart phone made in the last few years has the ability to
create a "hot spot". Some manufacturers just make it easier to find than
others.
A hot spot allows you to connect another device like a laptop to the
Internet wherever you are. I've used the hot spot feature in airports,
motels, in the car and in the middle of a farm field (literally). I have
found that the iPhone (mine is a 4) makes it easier to find the command to
turn it on and off than other manufacturers, although it may be popular
enough now that others are easy too.
