As DM the dog shows no pain and eventually can not
get up without help.
I am still trying to wonder whether losing a GSD to
the silent killer Hemangio or DM is worse. Losing dogs
to both of these diseases as least with DM there is time
to prepare for the lost not the case with Hemangio. Very rough
in any case as it is very hard to lose them.

There are forms of nerve sheath
tumors that mimic as DM as well.
My 6.5 yr old boy has a nerve sheath tumor diagnosed via
MRI, that had our surgeons convinced had DM, floors them
that he came back Clear on the OFA DM test. Continuing
to defy odds (we as vet techs Love to give our surgeons
complicated personal pets) my boy has stayed status
quo for almost a year after diagnosis. We will be
doing a necropsy when he passes.
