As Kitty says... licensing is licensing. At least enough controversy was created to prevent it from passing this year. Lets keep it up!! Licensing is licensing, no matter how it is put and the restrictions are not good for those who care for their property: dogs and cats. Thank you. Now that we have adjourned for the year I wanted to let you know what happened. Both opponents and proponents provided a lot of information for me to consider on this issue. The bill did not receive a hearing because of all the controversy that it created. On April 30, 2007, an alternate bill SF 2292 was introduced by the chief author Don Betzold (DFL-Fridley). He hopes to have a hearing on it next year. Below find a link to the new version of the Dog and Cat regulating bill. The changes to the bill are as follows: - Breeder license fee set by the board of animal health - Removes Euthanasia language - Board of Animal Health Sets rules for standards of care - Transportation language removed - Local Government Authority language removed - Removes language about access - Removes language about removing animals - Changes the effective date Link to SF 2292 - http://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/bin/bldbill.php?bill=S2292.0.html&session =ls85 Thank you again for contacting me on this issue and feel free to contact my office with any other concerns you may have.
