This is an email I have received from Senator Steve Dille regarding SF
121 which was changed into SF 2292. Licensing is licensing, no matter how
it is put and the restrictions are not good for those who care for their
property: dogs and cats. Thank you.

Dear Friends,
Thank you for contacting me this year about SF 121, the bill to
regulate Dog and Cat producers. Now that we have adjourned for the year I
wanted to let you know what happened. Both opponents and proponents
provided a lot of information for me to consider on this issue. The bill
did not receive a hearing because of all the controversy that it created.
On April 30, 2007, an alternate bill SF 2292 was introduced by the
chief author Don Betzold (DFL-Fridley). He hopes to have a hearing on it
next year. Below find a link to the new version of the Dog and Cat
regulating bill. The changes to the bill are as follows:
- Breeder license fee set by the board of animal health
- Removes Euthanasia language
- Board of Animal Health Sets rules for standards of care
- Transportation language removed
- Local Government Authority language removed
- Removes language about access
- Removes language about removing animals
- Changes the effective date
