What wonderful thoughts and images to pass on… Thank you, Peg. My older sister
was an Army Nurse during the Korean War… probably late '40's and I can just
imagine her and you there.

It's been really cold in N. CA lately and it made me think back to the
coldest Holiday Season I ever experienced. I was living in a tent on the
Korean DMZ during the coup in South Korea. We had always heard stories in
the Marine Corps about the "Frozen Chosin" during the Korean War, but you
can't imagine that kind of bitter cold until you experience it yourself. I
was in Seoul on Christmas Day and the square was filled with tanks and
completely deserted because of the curfew. These kind of images make us
realize how fortunate we are to live in the United States; and my thoughts
drifted to my German Shepherd waiting so patiently for me to return from
distant lands to the warmth of my home. This Holiday Season, let's take a
moment to think about the troops (and military dogs) that are standing guard
in far-away countries so that we may enjoy our freedom and privileges.
