I would not recommend shaving a coated dog. The coat is to protect the
skin. Not only do you remove the protection of it, but you also will run the
risk of irritating the skin with shaving . Why not rake through the coat and
remove all the undercoat? Then bath the dog and use a coat conditioner as a
rinse. Use a blower to dry the coat and also removing any additional loose
coat in the process. You can TRIM the bottom line or pants a bit with
scissors
to tidy them up.
