Yes, Tish! Punky (a sable) was bred to another sable. From that litter
there were mostly sables with a couple black & tans. So both of them must
have had the b & t gene.

Sable is a dominant gene but sable parents can carry a bl & tan gene also
and a puppy could get that gene from both parents and be a bl & tan. The
puppy would not carry a sable gene.

Barbara.......that statement is not true. I know of several people who
have bred two sables together and got black and tan puppies. I evev know of
one litter where 80% of the puppies were black and tan. Since sable is the
dominant gene, you would not think that would happen.......but it does.

You can only get a sable by breeding to a sable..Barbara Amidon If both
parents are sable you will only get sable
