It has nothing to do with in or out of Southern California. This is available
to everybody with a healthy GSD aged 5 years or older.
You can fax the forms, too, you don't need to mail them.
I e-mailed John, he e-mailed me the forms, I printed them out, signed them and
faxed them back. The kit arrived here 2 days ago. They move fast! If it was
a cheek swab, it would be easier, but, a blood draw is easy enough.
Sounds like a wonderful study. Thank you to all who participate.

I contacted Steve and got some more specific info on how to participate in this
study. For those of you outside the SoCal area, you must send in a consent
form (I can send that to you) and they will send you a test kit. The kit is to
bring to your vet for a blood draw. The Institute will pay for the blood test
but you may pick up additional vet visit expenses unless you get your vet on
board with this. Regarding the Woodland Hills location, it is no longer being
used.
The institute will pay for additional tests based on the results of the blood
test. However, they will not pay for treatment should your dog develop cancer.
Then again, most research studies don't cover the cost of treatment.
This is a worthy study and a I encourage you all to participate. I sent in
forms for 2 of my dogs today. Dogs must be at least 5yrs old.
