I would have the c-section. Is there a repro vet in your area?
Is her due date known because of progesterone testing (ovulation date) or by
breeding date(s)?
If you have progesterone testing done prior to labor starting, you will be able
to determine when the pups can safely be delivered, and plan your c-section
accordingly. This will keep you from having an emergency situation. You are
looking for a number of 2.0 or lower.

I have a 3 year old bitch in good condition who is carrying 11 pups and due in
bout a week. This is her second litter. Last year at this time she carried 13
ups. We lost 6 of those pups during delivery. Even with oxytocin shots, she
as slow to deliver and most of the pups had to be worked on to bring them
round. I believe they had detached from the uterine wall and the contractions
eren't strong enough to get them out soon enough.I'm now trying to decide
hether to schedule a C-section. I work in a clinic which unfortunately is an
our's drive from our home. The vets I work with do not generally do c-sections,
hough they are willing to. There is a closer clinic, but they also don't do
o-sections very often. (and there are no other vets within a 2 hour drive.)One
ositive change over last year is that the bitch is eating much better this time
and, of course, she knows what is coming this time.). I'd rather not do a
-section, but I don't want a repeat of last year. A
ny input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
