Ellen Heintz told me years ago that sables were brown dogs. She told me in
the 70s. Am I dating myself? <G>

The Farm Dog Forever
As I understand a sable dog has two coat colors on almost every hair of it’s
body with lighter undercolor of grey, red or brown.
I had several sables and at birth they were brownish black so maybe that is
why they will always be considered brown.
