Yes, we did that too back in the day. Used to put them on Ampicillin if I recall, and my mentor ( Barbara Fopma) always gave her bitches a vaccination just before they came in season (shudder the thought now days). But that was then <G>....before the days of Microplasma and other exotic bugs. Actually, there's a very good, in depth article in last year's Red Book on fertility issues with the stud dog and brood bitch that goes into every possibility.
