You mean a judge could ask the group to keep moving until they were told to
stop?? Oh  that would be fun. I just assumed that because judges ask for one or
2 laps that was the rule. Hell why not 5 or 6 laps. :0)

There is no rule about how many times a dog can be sent around. Where
on earth did you come up with THAT idea?
I do believe that doing any kind of "survey" in the breed ring
is
frowned upon.......there may be a time and place for such things...as a
separate event.
In spite of the leeway given (regarding time per dog)
to most specialty shows, the AKC does not require written critiques and
these are not supposed to be part of the AKC procedure.
I have been involved with breeds that ask for critiques from
specialty shows, but the time the judges
take is brief...perhaps the judge carries a small tape recorder, records a
critique at the time, and that critique is published later in a breed magazine.
Usually these critiques are only of dogs that place--no critiques
are provided for unplaced animals.

I wasn't at the show...I agree there is too much down time, and I
understand that quite a few people left the building during bitch specials,
to stand around in the parking lot having something to eat, cocktails,
or just to talk...and I do think it is sad that the momentum of judging was
apparently so lethargic that people felt happier walking away.

This is not Germany...we do not walk, and walk, and walk our dogs
(in any breed, least of all this breed).
I don't have a problem with the winners, and because I was at the Pity
Party, I can't comment on who was bored, who wasn't....but as Barbara
and
others have said, the membership elects the judges. Maybe there
was "block" judging, maybe not. Maybe in the future, those of us who
have
not shown a dog in the previous year should not be allowed to vote...
ooooo.....totally new concept, eh?
