Ch Mar Haven's Sarajevo Sunrise, PT, HSAs, otherwise known as "Sara,"
has added another title. She now has a RATN, (RAT novice).
What a blast we have had the past several weeks. It took a couple
exposures to rats for Sara to get me trained. But once I was trained,
Sara finished the title quickly.
Barn Hunt involves looking for rats hidden in straw bales. The rats are
enclosed in plastic tubes so are safe from the jaws of the dogs.
Sara proved particularly adept at finding the rat. Years ago, we had
issues with rats here in the kennel building. My Boss daughter, "Reva,"
caught the most. She would run into the kennel building, all I heard
was a "squeak," and out she ran with a dead rat. Sara was a puppy at
the time. Even she got one rat. None of the dogs ate the rats. They
just brought them to us.
Sara is out of a Boss daughter (Acara's Cold Climate X Ch Mar Haven's
Annie's Song) so I suspect she comes from a long line of rat hunters
(sorry, Carolyn). This whole thing has been so much fun, I just keep
laughing.
