I spoke personally with Lupe, Sherri, and Hank
Greenwood in preparation for this story, which I am
publishing in the next issue of the Bull-A-Ton.
Permission to Crosspost.

Bailey?s Transport is accused of dog fighting!
Brian Bailey of Marion, TX, and Tony Self of Stone
Mountain Georgia, operate a legitimate and well
respected USDA class B licensed pet transport service
that delivers animals safely to their intended
destination. That is until late July, when they
stopped at a Burbank, Illinois gas station to get
fuel and clean the cage of a puppy that had become car
sick. Before they could get back on the road, they
were arrested in the parking lot on felony charges of
dog fighting, animal cruelty and neglect! The police
officer was not interested in their federal license,
but insisted the only reason anyone would be
transporting dogs was to a fight, or for breeding dogs
to fight. News accounts quoted animal control
officials who made false claims about the dog?s
physical condition, but failed to provide any
photographs, and ran defamatory reports about Brian
and Tony.

The van was not open and the dogs and puppies inside
were not in plain view so it?s unfathomable what could
have constituted ?probable cause? to search the
vehicle. And that USDA license the arresting officer
callously disregarded overrides local or state
jurisdiction. No matter, the men were arrested, the
van impounded and the dogs were seized ? much to the
dismay of their owners.

Bail was set at $150,000, and since neither Brian, nor
Tony could post bond, they are both incarcerated in
the county jail and awaiting arraignment on Sept 5th.
Only Tony has been able to raise enough money (with
the help of friends) for a criminal defense attorney.
Brian has not been able to retain council.

Tony?s wife Sherri stated that she was fired from her
job at a local veterinary hospital that was in
negotiation with the county for a lucrative spay and
neuter contract, because they didn?t want to be
affiliated with ?dog fighters?. Tony and Sheri run the
ADBA show and weight pull club in Georgia and have a
spotless reputation with local animal control. Sherri
may sue for wrongful termination. In the mean time,
friends and club members struggle to help out with
groceries, dog food and other essentials.

Brian?s wife, Lupe, says she is working three jobs and
fears she might lose her house. She stated that she
has been repeatedly harassed over the phone by animal
control, and that Brian has been repeatedly taken out
of his cell and ?questioned? because he has no
attorney.

The dogs are being held until trial and although
animal control authorities had started to ascertain
their potential for adoption (read that as SALE), they
have been notified that any transfer of ownership,
injury, harm or death will render them civilly liable.

Not only did local authorities over step their legal
boundaries, but they appear to have interfered and
conspired to interfere with interstate commerce, A
FEDERAL OFFENSE! With adequate council, they may have
grounds to eventually sue the city for a substantial
sum. But first we need to get them back to their
families and their dogs! If you would like to help
fund the defense of Brian and Tony against these
unfounded allegations, please send a donation in any
amount to: United Dog Owner?s Inc., PO box 2377,
Leland, NC 28451. All donations earmarked for ?Baileys
Transport? will go directly to the defense of Brian
Bailey and Tony Self. United Dog Owner?s is an all
volunteer not for profit advocacy organization. On the
