Late last year, I was forced to fly an average size bitch in a 700! on
Continental!.....I refused, Ann Marie talked me into it !...I called them some
names that I should not have!...I just lost it!....don't show anymore so I
guess my problems with airport personal are over...Ed

I know many of you are going to have to fly with your dogs to the National
coming up and I just wanted to fill you in on experience we had yesterday
trying to ship Penny, the 44 pound Dalmatian back to her owner in Richmond,
Virginia (out of MSP).
Â
Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook saw the rant last night...
Before Delta took over, our dealings were with Northwest - however we tried to
avoid them at all possible costs, both for shipping (the hassle) and flying
(too expensive!). We had several battles with Northwest through the years about
shipping bitches in 400 Vari Kennels.. NO Dal girl needs a 500! They can stand
up in a 400, turn around, etc.. And as you know, it is not safe to fly dogs in
a crate so much bigger than they are. One situation, Coral was to go to S. Cal.
in a 400, NWA wouldn't take her, but American would. Just a big hassle all
around, and one particular employee was the worst, so we would ship around her.

Anyhoo, we hoped when Delta gobbled up NWA, the issues would go away.
Yesterday, we took little Penny, in her 400 Vari Kennel out to Delta to ship
Dash since the cargo office in Richmond would be closed when her flight got in.
We waited for a half hour with only two people a head of us. Finally, it was
our turn and we put Penny and her crate up on the scale.. The gal studied the
crate for a moment and came around to the front and decided that Penny was TOO
big to stand with her head straight up in the crate!!! Excuse me... "Well look
at the diagram." We did and it shows a dog in a rocking horse position with
it's head mid level, which Penny was perfectly able to do... We argued for 20
minutes. My mom finally went outside and the gal followed ME outside to
continue the argument. She's lucky I didn't hit her over the head with that
stupid plastic bowl in Penny's crate.

I understand about animal welfare, but I think these people are so brainwashed
that they can no longer use common sense (and I partially blame the AR
folks)... It is totally unsafe for my little 44 pound Dal girl to go in a 500
and the price is totally outrageous ($400.00 to ship her in the 400).

Right now we are looking at options and I think we have some good ones...
