Brief summary of Yorkie case:
A woman in Louisville, KY advertised a Yorkie puppy for sale for a
friend/co-owner who lived out of county. LMAS targeted this woman in a
sting. The woman demanded a search warrant. LMAS left, and the woman called
the co-owner, who came and took the puppy out of county. LMAS returned with
a police officer (supposed friend of the Yorkie woman) who swore to the
woman that they had a search warrant for the puppy, and he had seen it.
Today this case went to court and was DISMISSED. Amazingly, LMAS said that
the Yorkie woman was in compliance and they were very embarrassed to have
made such a mistake. The attorney on the case, our very own Pat King, didn't
buy this story and demanded to see a copy of the warrant. THERE WAS NO
WARRANT.
Lesson 1: NEVER believe any authority figure who swears that he/she has a
warrant to search your home, until you SEE and READ the warrant yourself!!!
The Yorkie woman & her husband have filed a complaint against the police
officer, and are looking to file a 1983 action against those involved.
