It was the SV that declared the arched back was better for the breed. The
SV set the standard, and England followed. Also, they are very close in
location.
Even in England they use the phrase "German shepherd" having dropped
Alsatian after the war.
I don't know for sure, and haven't asked any Brits, but I believe the
English know the breed originated in Germany.
Maybe not.
