I agree with you 100% Sue. Parents who are derelict in their duties as parents should be held responsible if they leave their children unattended in the company of any dog, of any breed. REGARDLESS IF A PROBLEM OCCURS. < my opinion only. Idiots and brainless. The story that Dee is relating could mean the kids were some yard apes that were terrorizing the neighbour dogs. "Pit Bulls" are prey driven dogs, as GSD's are, as alot of breeds are.....running, yelling, all of that hypes the dog if not trained and socialized properly correct? It's hard to tell who's at fault. But from Dee's post the kids were being idiots. And they were damn lucky all they got was scratches. The kids suffered scratches and admit that the dogs "might" have been playing because the kids were jumping around and acting silly. Because of the type of dog they are they were taken by the Humane Society. BUT, and this is the worse part, they may be euthanized before they ever get to court. Owners are responsible for paying $300 a month for the care of the dogs in custody, that's $1200 total for this owner. The Director of the Humane Society says that even though these dogs didn't cause severe injury they don't consider them adoptable because they "have the ability" to cause severe injury. So unless this owner comes up with $1200 a month these animals will never have their day in court. Guilty just because they are Pit Bulls. > All dogs have the "ability" to cause severe injury regardless of breed. We really need to be concerned about these types of situations. > Dee Lauffer GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED BETTERMENT REGISTRY The only way to understand & estimate the nature of the dog is to study his whole development. Such a task requires a sympathetic, dog-loving observer, who tries as far as possible to enter into the innermost mind of the dog, and who will know how to short-circuit all his purely human points of view. --Max von Stephanitz --------------------------------- Find your next car at Yahoo!
