Years ago (the 80"s) I bred a sable JJ daughter to my solid black male Obie (whose parents were both solid black too). In the first litter I got 3 solid blacks. Nothing else!! A year later I made the same breeding and got 4 sables, 2 solid blacks and a very dark black and tan---don't tell me this isn't possible. I swear it happened. The funniest thing is that I had SO wanted to see a sable pup in that first litter--no sable had ever been born at Landsend. HA--it didn't happen. but the second time, the first sack that came out seemed lighter than others that I had seen. There was my sable. How neat. Have you ever seen a puppy double-sacked? My Obie was born enclosed in 2 sacks and so was The Kid (the world's greatest canine psychic and snake charmer). 2 sacks mean good luck--well The Kid is going on 14--I think that's pretty lucky!
