"Picky eater, sometimes loose stools, skin issues, still itching and
scratching and he is very skinny and will not gain any weight" got my
attention.
I would run a cTLI test. Most now agree under 10, immune and pancreatic
issues...treat.

I don't know what I would blame the aggression on the pred.

Neuter him anyway, not because that is what is causing his aggression but
ABSOLUTELY not a dog to be bred....obvious health and temperament issues,
and truthfully, sad for the dog, fate dealt him a bad hand but I wouldn't
feed a dog that bit anyone in the house let alone "has bitten everyone in the
house".

A friend of mine has a two year old male German Shepherd. She bought him
from a breeder when he was eight weeks old. From the time that she brought
him home he has been a fussy eater and sometimes loose stools on and off.
But other than that he was a healthy happy boy. When he was about a year old
he started to have issues where he would scratch and bite himself all the
time and all his hair on his face came off and his skin was red and raw and
he was tearing the hair out in other places on his body also. Still not
eating great but still a happy boy with a wonderful temperment. Finally it got
so bad that the vet did biopsies because I thought that it might be an
auto immune problem because that is what it looks like. My friend has been
feeding him raw for a couple of months and has been adding all this stuff to
his food and he is a good eater now. But he is still itching and scratching
and he is very skinny and will not gain any weight. She has been to the vet
numerous times
with him now running all kinds of tests and they all came back fine
including the biopsy. Nothing conclusive. Well he is still itching a lot but
his
fur looks a lot better and his face has shown a really big improvement. Now
we have a bigger problem. The vet put him on predsidone to try and help
with the itching. Three days after he was on it he started to show some
aggressive behavior towards her family including her at one point. He was
taken
off of it slowly after only being on it a week. This was almost two weeks
ago. His aggressive behavior has gotten so bad that he has to be on a leash
all the time because he has bitten everyone in the house. He can be playing
and happy and wagging his tail and then for no apparent reason he just
goes off and lunges toward the first person that he can get to. Yesterday he
got a hold of her 19 year old son by the arm...dug his teeth in and would
NOT LET GO and he started to shake his arm. She has a really hard time
getting the dog to le
t go. She called a behavior specialist but she will not come out and
evaluate the dog until he is neutered and she wants him put on prozac. Now as
we
all know this is not ordinary behavior. If you were in this person's
situation what would you do with this dog??? Do you think that neutering him
will make any difference??? She really truly loves this dog and has spent a
lot of money on him trying to make him well and really does not want to put
him down........so I am asking all of you for your help and input. Thank you
for reading!!!
