Well, as is so often the case, AKC made a pronouncement that wasn't thought all the way through. Now, after being questioned, the AKC has released this statement: "I have received clarification from AKC on the new "drug" policy added to the ban on foreign substances in dogs' coats. The drug policy prohibits the use of drugs which alter a dog's appearance, temperament or movement, and will be complaint-driven, requiring supporting veterinary records. Judges are not expected to make the determination. The banned substances do not include such items as thyroid medication, joint supplements, vitamins, etc." In other words, we're back to business as usual.
