Senior and geriatric dogs need specialized care and the AKC Canine Health
Foundation (CHF) aims to fund cutting-edge research to help our four legged
friends grow old gracefully.
Most veterinarians consider a dog a senior at age 8 and geriatric at age 12.
Dogs who have reached these stages have special health needs.
You can help CHF fund research for senior dogs.
We have established the Senior Dog Health & Wellness Initiative to provide
grants to researchers who are working to keep our senior dogs active and
healthy.
With your support we can fund research that will:
• Stimulate novel approaches to senior dog healthcare
• Help us better understand a dog's aging immune system
• Prevent and/or manage common health concerns for older dogs like
degenerative cardiac disease or kidney disease
• Improve cognitive function in older dogs
• Allow our beloved older dogs to live longer and happy lives
Help dogs not just live longer, but live well!
