Critters are not a viri, most often gotten from visiting Facebook
websites that have been hacked - the code resides in the web code
and runs when you view the website. It can be your best friends Facebook
Page - they have no idea that their sites are hacked. Your anti viri programs
cannot protect you
from this
The admin set the offfending email address to modpost to prevent
these URLS from getting to the list - PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO
THEM ON PLACE THEM BACK ON THE LIST as aol, comcast
and embarq will immediately set the list to spam for 48 hours!
Setting someone modpost does not prevent them from receiving or sending mail -
all email from
those set to modpost are moderated. If the post does not contain a critter, it
is immediately
approved.
However, we do not have a crystal ball, and hence cannot stop them from
getting through ONCE! Remove them from your spam folder PRIOR to deletion.
This will prevent the list from get set as a spammer.
You can prevent getting these critters by using spywaredoctor. It
will also remove them.
Here is how to remove critters:
1. Go to http://pctools.com and download spyware doctor (Costs
$30 a year to license for two computers) - you have to look carefully on
their website to get the o ne without the antivirus program ($40 a year
with 3 licenses)
2. Run spyware doctor, revert to an older version of WINDOWS
PRIOR TO AN INFESTATION.
3. REBOOT and run spyware doctor again. Keep the program
running resident, especially if you go to FACEBOOK
4. Then change your password at aol/yahoo/msn as this critter gets your
mail password and uses it, even after the critter is gone!
Some of the newer computers from China are coming in with worms and
malware on the chip set. So even brand new computers can be infeccted.
The most common critter uses your address book to send out PH*SHING and
PRONO URLS. Others send your addressbook to spammers so they have good
email addresses.
PROTECT YOURSELF. The aol and yahoo anti critter software is NOT enough
