I was at training yesterday & one of the trainers Shawn was distraught over
a young Dutch Shepherd bitch he co-owns that has not been in her first
season yet had gotten Pyometra. He asked if I ever dealt with that which I
have one time. My young bitch GS puppy in her first season at 6 months was
altered after she came down with Pyometra. I didn't think it was hereditary.
Is this hereditary? And with Shawn's promising Dutch Shepherd puppy I has
was wondering if she could be saved with medication? If so, what are the
chances of it reoccurring? Or once they get Pyometra do they always have to
be spayed? I've asked a couple of vets & waiting for their opinions as well.
