I remember that day so well. My husband had been transferred to Turkey and
the kids and I had just arrived there 2 months before when we got the word
about JFK. Being in a foreign country and hearing that your president was
assassinated had quite an impact on all of us, including the Turkish people.
Some cried for us, too. My husband's birthday was 3 days later - and so was
John-John's, I think he was only 3 years old. How very sad.

I was in the 4th grade ( the grade I teach now)...it was a Friday.....I was

I remember sitting at my desk in school and crying. Â It was the first time
that we were ever allowed to watch television in public school. Â And we are
Canadians....
It still grasps me in the throat when I see those images. Â I think that's
when television (and society) started to change, when the censors started
releasing their grasp. Â It was the first time that an actual murder was
broadcast to the world live and our innocence was tainted. Â We could no
longer wear the rose-coloured glasses that the post war era was coloured
with.
