Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday's edition of Sheri's Free Stuff and
Contest newsletter!

It is great having all of you join me today. I want to thank eveyone that
joined our forums yesterday! You helped me get over the 800 mark. For
anyone that hasn't taken the time to drop by and sign up, please do so. I
promise you you won't be sorry. We have alot of fun on the forums. Plus
you will be the first to see all the latest freebies and contests as they are
posted.
I wanted to share an e-mail that I received yesterday regarding porn that is
being downloaded when you think you are downloading an innocent file.
I really can't explain it in detail so this is why I am posting the entire
e-mail. I want to say thanks for sending me this and making me more
aware of the problem. I myself do not download anything from any sites except
an occasional screensaver or game and then I am very careful when I
do. Plus I run my antivirus program constantly.
Dear Sheri,
Please make your subscribers aware of a very bad problem with pop-up- porn that
they unwittingly authorize when they agree to certain conditions that some
"free" download
programs use to promote their affiliate porn sites.
We have NO idea how this happened, but one of the "free" downloads we put on
our computer had a pop-up porn program that was downloaded at the same time as
the "free"
program was download.
My family and I are now battling with our web provider to have this problem
recified. It has gotten so bad and out of hand, that I have now had to put my
computer off limits to my
children, because a very graphic porn pop-up will appear at ANY time.
Today, I finally received a reply from my web provider telling me that when I
authorized a program to be installed and I agreed to the rules and conditions
of the program, I also gave
permission for some one to download their affiliate porn pop-ups (which was not
disclosed as being porn of course) on my computer as well.
There is a way to have it stopped, but it's not without cost. You have to call
a certain long-distance phone number and have someone from this company walk
you step-by-step
through the procedures to "uninstall" this program and to put up a firewall
protector so it doesn't happen again. But beware!!! ONE wrong click and you
can destroy your computer!!!
Please.... make your subscribers aware of this unasked for invasion to their
privacy.

Once again Robyn I want to thank you for alerting us to this terrible problem.
I have small children and it would be terrible for them to open up
the internet and have something like that staring them in the face.
If anyone else has come across anything like this please send me the info and I
will be sure to alert our readers about it.

Today was a great day when the mailman finally arrived.
I got a full size product of Neutrogena bronzing instant tanning lotion, the
heala sample and several magazines.
Let's keep the mailman busy!

Today's Funny
Ah yes, those were the days Thanks Anne for sending me this!
According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were
kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't
have survived, because......
Our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which
was promptly chewed and licked.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or
cabinets and it was fine to play with pans.
When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip flops and
fluorescent 'clackers' on our wheels.
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the front passenger seat was a treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle - tasted the
same.
We ate dripping sandwiches, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy
pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always
outside playing.
We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no
one actually died from this.
We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top
speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After
running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were
back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us all day and no one
minded.
We did not have Playstations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99
channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile
phones, no personal computers, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends
we went outside and found them.
We played elastics and street rounders, and sometimes that ball really
hurt.
We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were
no lawsuits.They were accidents. We learnt not to do the same thing
again.
We had fights, punched each other hard and got black and blue - we
learned to get over it.
We walked to friend's homes.
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate live stuff, and
although we were told it would happen, we did not have very many eyes
out, nor did the live stuff live inside us forever.
We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood.
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem
solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion
of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and
responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
And you're one of them. Congratulations!
Pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as real kids,
before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good.
(If you aren't old enough, thought you might like to read about us
anyway).
Boy it feels good to remember those days!!

Heavy Duty Gardeners Hand Cream
2 Tablespoons of shaved beeswax
1/2 Teaspoon of carnuba wax
2 Tablespoons of jojoba oil
1 Teaspoon of aloe vera gel
10 drops of Vitamin E oil ( or 4 capsules)
1 drop of your favorite essential oil for fragrance
Melt the first four ingredients in a stainless steel pot on the stove or
use a glass pyrex cup in the microwave. Remove from heat and beat until
cool, adding the Vitamin E oil before mixture thickens. Continue beating
until this mixture becomes creamy. Add your favorite essential oil,
continue beating until cream has completely cooled. Spoon your cream
into a jar, store in a cool dark place.

From Our Recipe Corner

Lemon Meringue Pie - sugar free
Reduced-Fat Pie Pastry or favorite pastry for 9-inch pie
2-1/4 cups water
1/2 cup lemon juice
10-3/4 teaspoons Equal® for Recipes or 36 packets Equal® Sweetener*
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel (optional)
2 tablespoons margarine
1 to 2 drops yellow food color (optional)
Baked 9-inch pie shell
3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3-1/2 teaspoons Equal® for Recipes or 12 packets Equal® Sweetener
* Equal® SpoonfulT cannot be used in meringue recipes.
Mix water, lemon juice, 10-3/4 teaspoons Equal® for Recipes and
cornstarch in medium saucepan. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat,
stirring constantly; boil and stir 1 minute. Beat eggs and 2 egg whites
in small bowl; stir in about 1/2 the hot cornstarch mixture. Stir this
egg mixture into remaining cornstarch mixture in saucepan; cook and stir
over low heat 1 minute. Remove from heat; add margarine, stirring until
melted. Stir in food color. Pour mixture into baked pie shell.
Beat 3 egg whites in medium bowl until foamy; add cream of tartar and
beat to soft peaks. Gradually beat in 3-1/2 teaspoons Equal® MeasureT,
beating to stiff peaks. Spread meringue over hot lemon filling,
carefully sealing to edge of crust to prevent shrinking or weeping.
Bake pie in preheated 425ºF oven until meringue is browned, about 5
minutes. Cool completely on wire rack before cutting.
Makes 8 servings.
