The is a message from Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association. Dear Youders and friends, SEYSA DISABLED STUDENTS GROUP 1ST ANNIVERSARY EVENT Since its establishment in 1987, The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council has had the foresight to be inclusive of disabled students. Therefore, since Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association (SEYSA) was established in 1992 by a group of Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship awardees, its members had been, and still are, coming from diverse professions with very different interests - including both the disabled and non-disabled. In 2013, the SEYSA Disabled Students Group has been set up. Aims of the Group are three-folds: 1) To form a bridge for friendship and networking between SEYSA disabled awardees themselves and other SEYSA members, so to develop mutual help between all parties as well as to see what SEYSA can assist their disabled awardees. 2) To organize activities / events with the needs and perspectives of the disabled in consideration. 3) To have a voice in our society so to express the necessities and difficulties of disabled students in the present education system - to help others as well as to help ourselves. The Group thus aims to encourage more disabled students to further their education and to assist them to have a better life. An AFTERNOON TEA PARTY to celebrate the 1ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE SEYSA DISABLED STUDENTS GROUP for the SEYSA disabled awardees (and their family and friends) will be held on 19TH JULY, 2014 from 3pm to 5pm. There will be guest speakers' session, and DSG members' sharing of their experiences of living with disability, especially the issues about academic study and career. We hope all of you could share with us your thoughts and experiences, for a deeper and more insightful discussion.
