Here are the first three paragraphs from the Member Handbook that is posted on
the web and is included in each new members welcome "packet." The highlighted
section is what Mike suggested be added - does this look ok? If so, I'll send
it off to Jeff Stevens and have him update the website with the new version
(the new section will not be highlighted).

Welcome to membershipin the San Diego Astronomy Association!
The SDAA is anorganization created to further the education of its members and
the public inastronomy and the related physical sciences. Membership is
composed of peoplefrom all walks of life who share the same fascination for the
Universe aroundthem.
The SDAA is committed to the philosophy of equality for all,regardless of
gender, gender identity, race, ethnic origin, religion, age,marital status,
sexual orientation, disabilities, or any other reason. Allpeople should be
treated with respect. At no time is abusive, demeaning, humiliating,or
intimidating behavior acceptable; abuses of power are unacceptable. The Board
of Directors shall provide for suchpolicies as are appropriate to recognize and
maintain this commitment.
If you have atelescope, please jump in and attend any of SDAA’s star party
events and oursite at Tierra Del Sol. If you are learning how to use your
telescope, SDAAmembers will be glad to help you at these events. If you are
thinking aboutobtaining a telescope, the best advice is to defer any purchase
until you haveattended any of our star parties to see what works best for your
interests. Inaddition to visual observing, SDAA has monthly meetings with
lectures on spaceand astronomy topics and an active imaging group.
