So I received this email from a member (I deleted their name). I don’t know
that we even have a moderator, let alone that we actually need to take
action. I’m finding it pretty entertaining.
Anyway, just letting you know we’re starting to get complaints.

Brian,
This Laura is a piece of work. I hope you have passed her name to the
moderator. She needs to be reminded about proper decorum at a minimum.
Best regards,

Excellent idea. I don't recall us asking for banquet raffle donations from
The Fleet before.Craig (Ewing)
Next year, we should ask for something for the raffle.Reply to sender . Reply to group . Reply via Web Post . All Messages (15) .

Hi Larry,
Yeah, volunteering is pretty much a thankless job, but you get to expose
a lot of folks to science, astronomy, the hobby, and SDAA. Kids love it.
I volunteer a lot of time to the TDS site, but certainly not for any
accolades!
because of their exposure to the SDAA at Stars in the Park, so keep up the
good work!

Laura,
Woah, calm down. We’re all friends here. I’m sorry to hear of your visual
problems. Perhaps I can help a little with reading Email messages.
Typing in all caps is indeed considered bad Email etiquette. It’s usually
called “SHOUTING.”
And when we see your messages in all caps AND their content seems a bit
combative and argumentative, we put two and two together and think you’re
quite angry – at us. Or at least, that’s what I felt and thought when I read
your messages.
If you’re having visual problems and difficulty seeing and reading your
computer and Email messages, there are other solutions that might help..
1) On some Email programs (such as Microsoft Outlook – the one I’m using
here), there’s a ZOOM feature that makes the type larger. On my computer this
feature is at the very bottom right corner of the Email window. It’s a
horizontal line with a “-“ (minus) sign on the left, a “+” sign on the right,
and a vertical bar in the middle. Slide that vertical bar to the right
(towards the “+” side) and the type in that message gets larger and easier to
read.
2) Some Email programs let you set different type fonts and sizes for reading
and composing messages. Find somebody who is familiar with things like this
to see if they can change your Email settings to make both the composing
window and reading window type larger and easier for you to read. Or, if the
Email program you’re currently using can’t do that, look into one that can do
that.
3) You can also change your computer’s screen resolution to make everything
on the computer larger. I won’t go into this here, but find somebody who is
familiar with your computer to change that setting for you. I did this for my
80 year-old mother years ago. She had cataracts at the time and couldn’t read
most type. So I made everything larger for her.
Good luck. I for one will try to be more understanding of your comments, and
I hope you’ll try to understand where we’re coming from too.

Telescope viewing is always free. I believe the fee for the Fleet applies to
everyone; the SDAA is providing the telescopes just like a Stars in the Park
event. Unfortunately the forecast is predicting almost 90% cloud cover at the
time of the eclipse.
