Hi All,
I got three responses from our banquet help request, but I don't know any of
them or how much they're willing or able to help. Do you think we should
schedule a Zoom meeting with them and try to get a handle on this? I'm happy
to help but I can't do the whole thing....
These are the three who offered to help:
Hi,
I would love to help out in planning and organizing the banquet. Please let me
know if there is someone I need to contact for this, or how I can help!
Thanks,Shefali Krishna

I am told that I am fantastic at planning and organizing! However, I don't
know much about this astronomy world yet. And here we are in November, a great
time to send donation letters out to ask for donations ahead of the end of the
tax year...
I have one idea, around dinner,,,,
Allow members to purchase the dinner and wine option. via bluebox or one of
those make it yourself dealios, who ever will give us a cut. Then get a local
winery to also get in on the deal and offer our members a discount or something
on a pairing, and of course they get "advertising" and we will allow their
solimar to discuss their wine during the live event, because they will have an
auction item...
I have zero idea what the demographics are and what previous banquets have been
like. So. I'll need some guidance there.
Maybe a pre-banquet purchase a $5 ticket, and someone is gonna win a fantastic
scope. As soon as we can get cash donations from businesses, open the chance
raffle. The winner will be pulled at the end of the night. And all the
businesses that donated will be highlighted... but that can be done all year
long.
Ok, I'll dip my toe in. My only concern is the planning period is short, and
it is over the holiday season. So, my ideas may runneth over, I worry about
the actual time commitment. Kristina Miller
