To access under the port side floor, you can remove the refrigeration vent
panels on the side of the cabinet, below and slightly to the right of the
refrigerator top. If your boat is like mine, you will see an opening that
goes below the floor. I inserted a hose in there and pushed it aft, and
applied some suction. Didn't find any water there. May be able to go
forward, but not sure. It seemed very dry, so I didn't look further.
I do get rainwater in the compartment under the port aft berth. In the
forward section. I originally thought it was running down the steering
cables as Gary suggested. But I also noticed some staining between the foam
cushion and the TOP of the berth platform, so it may be water through the
port or window.

I have heard of water entering into port and starboard hulls. It seems
water can enter from under the bridge deck due to very small holes. There
are many nuts and bolts below the bridge deck and some small screws that
fasten the propane lines. I would check these as well as seal them up with
sealant. Also the sealant may be compromised were the bridge deck and the
hull flange meet.
Look into the aft starboard closet. Get low and look up and maybe you can
see the channel where the steering cables cross over to the port steering
station. If there is water in that channel then that water is free to spill
to starboard or port sides. Note that the channel has a dam at each end
that will cause water to collect. So, if it is dry there then that is
probably not the source of your leak, unless your boat has been sitting for
months and the water dried up.
If water comes into this closet it can possibly run down to the floor in
behind some trim (not positive on this), but for sure it can collect in the
hold inside the closet. If it gets full enough it can enter the largest
hold in that room. If you have tools there then...
Assuming water is coming into the channel noted above, it can go to the port
side as well and will come down behind the small hinged door closest to you
right knee would be if you're sitting on the head cover. This water can
travel aft and then it can definitely get under the sole. Explore inside
that wall looking aft and you may see that this leads down towards the sole.
We drilled 2 one inch holes and took a hand pump with 1/4 inch tubing under
port side sole and we retrieved half of a gallon of seawater. Both were
drilled under the bunk and we wiggled the tube to go towards the keel
location to gain any water. We had no water damage to our sole and it was
only done to see if there was any water there after thinking I was hearing
it slosh around. I thought the sloshing was water outside the boat but the
rapidity of the sloshing clued me in.
IF you drill you may want to get input where to drill. Where I drilled
there was only maybe an inch air gap to the hull, which you don't want to
drill or you'll re-prioritize your leak projects.
Others before me have drilled and covered 4 inch size holes into the wood
flooring. This would give you more physical and visual access. I didn't
want the visual display nor physical touch on my tootsies. Each has it's
+/-s.

We seem to be getting water under our cabin sole occasionally. Don't know
where it comes from as I believe they are supposed to be water tight. This
usually occurs after a rough sail but today we found the water after a good
days rain. Out of all the Seawinds we looked at before buying ours we viewed
3 that have inspection ports in the cabin soles and all of them had a little
water in them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. AJ
