THE "Personal Banking Bonanza", a three-day shopping
festival being organised by the Kerala Circle of State
Bank of India, drew to a close here on Friday.

A bank spokesman said that the Chief General Manager,
SBI, Kerala Circle, Mr C. Narasimhan, had inaugurated
the festival, which presented ample opportunity for
interaction between buyers and sellers, with State
Bank playing the role of a catalyst cum financier.

Additional stalls had to be opened, apart from a
separate counter for high-value loans, to cope with
the rush. Sanction letters worth over Rs 4 crore were
issued on the spot to prospective borrowers for being
eventually disbursed as loans at various branches.

The festival featured stalls dealing in diverse
categories such as housing real estate, building
materials, automobiles, consumer durables, education
and travel. The housing and automobile stalls
attracted the maximum number of footfalls on the first
day, according to the spokesman.

All city branches of the bank were represented at the
festival. Visitors were allowed the option of opening
various kinds of deposit accounts with a branch of
their choice. Applications for ATM cum debit cards and
Internet banking were also accepted
