IMO this is all good - perhaps faster than we planned - I suggest Paul run
County, Debbie run City
I'll toss $50 in for the next scope - that is what we need, donations. Lets put
it out on FB and flood the City Library with demand.....or think this through!

If you would like to take over and be the coordinator for this program I will

Thanks!
And I am sorry about the Moran Prairie mixup. I know you had mentioned talking
to Ms. Bakken about a telescope, but didn't connect that to this form. I guess
I just got exuberant and decided I might as well fill out the whole thing, and
Nick apparently didn't remember either as he suggested Moran Prairie.
While the Astronomical League does not mention prohibiting clubs from applying
consecutive years, it sounds like there is great interest. Maybe we should see
about doing one more of these anyway. I know a guy I bet would put up at least
$100 towards the Moran Prairie telescope. I could pitch in at least $50. That's
half the cost of the model the JH program recommends.
The city library apparently came up with the case for the telescope. It is
quite big--I snapped a photo of it I should send out.

Debbie, Many thanks to Paul for his orientation
this afternoon. Our Checkout staff is better prepared
to answer basic questions and check overall condition upon
each return. We appreciate The Society’s offer of
ongoing maintenance and will keep you apprised on use.
Based on Pauls’ tutorial, we placed a
few labels (On/Off for the viewfinder (to better
protect battery life); Do Not Adjust for several of
the bolts, as well as the email address of the
Society (should borrowers have further
questions). On
behalf of the Shadle Library staff and customers, a HUGE
thank you to The Society for this incredible addition to our
collection.Pat

Subject: RE: telescope for library
program So happy to receive your email.
I’m currently working with our Support Services staff as
they are charged with preparing the telescope for
checkout—creating a catalog record, affixing barcode,
acquiring a toting bin for easier transport, etc.
I’ve got to assume they’re almost
done. At that point, I’d like to work with you
and/or The Society to do a brief training session with this
staff. More to follow! We are
excited—and have already fielded customer inquiries about
checking out the telescope. Pat

We’re looking forward to Astronomy Day here at the Shadle
Library on Saturday, May 21. Thank you again for offering
that here with us. It sounds like you’ll be here early to
get everything set up for the kick off at noon. But let us
know if there’s anything we can do to help facilitate the
program. I’m afraid I’ll have that day off but the
branch manager, Patricia Bonner, will be here. And thank you
again for the telescope presentation - pretty
exciting! All the best,Jeff Benefield
