I'm "soliciting bids" for Spokane Parks to host sidewalk astronomy events. The
idea is that we'll change the venue month to month, aiming for the Friday
closest to the first quarter moon as a decent target in city light--and
whatever planets happen to be up. None for February or March.
The next event will be at Franklin Park on February 23, weather permitting. I
will unfortunately be out of town.
I'm considering: Mission Park, Chief Gary Park, Manito Park, Comstock Park,
Lincoln Park, Underhill Park, High Drive Parkway, Audobon Park, Shadle Park,
Emerson Park, Corbin Park, Jim Hill Park, Keho Park, Rochester Heights Park,
etc.
Spread the love.
What we are most interested in are places with lots of foot traffic, big open
sky and few lights, with nearby parking we can unload and load the telescopes.
Trees are ok of the tops are more than 20 degrees above the horizon (two
fists), and in particular we have a good view to the south and southwest.
