Dear all
In light of the recent news on the situation with coronavirus, we wanted to
make it clear to all of our volunteers that we are not expecting them to put
their health at risk and will support individual decisions as to whether events
go ahead or are cancelled, based upon local knowledge and each individuals
personal situation.
Current government advice is to stay at home if you have any symptoms, so if
this is the case we would advise that these volunteers do not attend any events
that groups deem safe to continue with. Should events go ahead, please do
encourage volunteers to avoid physical contact with members of the public and
take regular breaks to wash their hands.
It would also be beneficial for those coordinating collections and events to
speak with the event venues themselves, as some may have their own polices at
the moment and may ask us not to attend.
Guide Dogs stance on this could change at any point, in line with government
advice - as soon as I receive any updates I will pass this information on to
you.
**This email has been sent to volunteer group organisers, so please pass on to
other volunteers within your group as you feel appropriate.
Best wishes and thank you for your support at this difficult time.
Gemma
