The latest newsletter from the Society of Genealogists in London mentions a
website set up by one of its members called Lives Retold
https://livesretold.co.uk/ which is “a permanent, non-profit, online library of ;
biographical and autobiographical essays. It is intended to be of interest to
family members, and to future social historians. Everybody is welcome to
deposit here, without charge, essays about themselves or their relatives … One
person’s life is a fleeting event, but it can be captured in a written account.
The purpose of the Lives Retold website is to provide a home for life stories -
preserving them for all time and for all to see ... Contributions are welcome.
We would particularly encourage people to write short illustrated essays about
each of their parents, as a way for their families and the world to remember
them. We would also encourage you to write your own life story - which could of
any length from ten pages to over a hundred. Many of us have boxes of
photographs, letters, diaries and other papers about ourselves, and our
relatives. These are bulky to store, and are seldom looked at. While they
remain in boxes they are difficult or impossible for family members to access.
Yet to destroy these memories would be a sad loss to our families, and to
future social historians.”
Might be worth a look,
Sue
