Folks;

We have always posted maps and routes to sites that would be safest for club
members who own a small family sedan. Please, let's stop this Stoneman Lake
road discussion. If you wish to take it, fine. But let's not confuse
people who think that it is some kind of shortcut and then get themselves
into trouble because they did not know what they were getting themselves in
for. Regardless of this "I made it on a bicycle with one flat tire"
discussion, this is a rough road and I would not like to recommend it to
anyone.

AJ, if you will get with Jack Jones about a portable toilet, I will call the
ranger station and tell them of our plans.

See ya;
Steve Coe

Steve, will you contact the forest ranger and advise him of our plans? If
the weather cooperates there will be, at least, a couple of us there
Wednesday. Perhaps the port-a-john should be delivered then.

When the planning was being done for this trip I made absolutely certain
that it did not, and never will, fall on Memorial Day. We need to keep
informing people that the weekend of the trip to Five Mile Meadow is not,
repeat NOT, Memorial Day weekend.

If we consider having the portable toilet delivered on Thursday (May 29),
then we should be all set for a great weekend. Let's just all put in mental
energy about getting the weather to cooperate.

I will make a short presentation at the club meeting. That will be on May
16.

Looking forward to it;
Steve Coe

Thanks Tom!  You're absolutely right!

I was looking at a calendar that showed the "Traditional" as opposed to
the "Observed" date.

I am relieved - not that it would have changed anything. Sorry for the
false alarm.

I guess the only potential fly in the ointment would be Memorial Day
weekend revelers patrolling the area on quads with headlights blazing.

Note that Memorial Day is the previous weekend, May 24-26.
