I agree with Valerie – Ah Ket is quite a well-known family name. William Ah
Ket was the first Chinese barrister admitted to practice in Australia in the
early 20th century. The name elements may have begun as separate, in the
Chinese manner, but since gold-rush days they have been used together as a
‘surname’, as we have it.
