3036, the Keep Families Together Act - Calls to Make!
----- Forwarded Message -----
From: Alan Wagman
Senator Diane Feinstein, D-CA, introduced S. 3036, the Keep Families Together
Act, on June 7, 2018. As a former child welfare lawyer, I can cut through the
gobbledy-gook for you and tell you that basically it says that other than
pursuant to state and federal child welfare law and procedure, the federal
government may not separate families within 100 miles of the border.
The text of the Act is
here:https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/3036/text
Currently there are 39 co-sponsors in addition to Sen. Feinstein, 37 Democrats,
2 Independents, 0 Republicans. The list of co-sponsors, which will be updated
as things change, is
here:https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/3036/cosponsors
The bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. It is important
to contact each of the Republicans on the committee and urge to quickly move
the bill to the Senate floor – especially if any of these senators is from your
state. But contact them even if not. Trump and Sessions are already preparing
concentration camp tent cities for children in Texas. If even one Republican
flips, the bill will pass through the Judiciary Committee.
The Chair of the Judiciary Committee is Senator Charles Grassley. His web page
for email is as

The message I am sending to Sen. Charles Grassley, the Chair of theJudiciary
Committee, is as follows:Please bring S. 3036, the Keep Families Together Act,
to a Judiciary Committee vote. Please vote to pass this urgent legislation.
The policy the legislation seeks to stop is monstrous and should have no part
in any nation which claims a commitment to human rights. Thank you.
The message I am sending to the Republican members of the Committee is as
follows: Please urge Chairman Grassley to bring S. 3036, the Keep Families
Together Act, to a Judiciary Committee vote. Please vote to pass this urgent
legislation. The policy the legislation seeks to stop is monstrous and should
have no part in any nation which claims a commitment to human rights. Thank
you.
