- HB 398, Oil, Gas & Vented Gas Royalties, sponsored by Rep. Derrick Lente,
is scheduled to be heard tomorrow 15 February in the House Commerce & Economic
Development Committee. The committee convenes at 1:30. This bill increases
the royalty for leases on state trust lands from 20% to 25% when production of
oil exceeds 20,000 barrels of oil per month, and when production of gas exceeds
75000 m.c.f. per month starting July 1 2019, and when production exceeds
amounts set by the commissioner of public lands starting July 1, 2020.

your support for this legislation.

Your message
- Remember, the principal purpose of the message is to show your support for
the legislation.
- However, a brief justification for your position is helpful though not
essential, to let the legislator know that you are familiar with the
legislation. Here is the fundamental reason(but please use your own words)
- There is no reason that royalties for oil and gas production should be
less in New Mexico than in our next door neighbor, Texas.
